About Us

Our Meetings

Each of our meetings are structured and consistent so that our members and guests always know what to expect.  The structure allows us to learn in a controlled environment, but also allows us to learn key skills on running a meeting agenda, keeping to time and maximising the value for all involved.

Our Vice President of Education plans our meetings weeks in advanced, so that those with with a role have plenty of time to prepare and practice. Each role in our agenda is documented on the Toastmasters International website, so that person knows exactly what they are expected to do.

​

Guests who join us won't be allocated to a role, but are welcomed to join us during our impromptu Table Topics session. But of course, it's completely voluntary, you can sit back and observe instead.

Sergeant At Arms
Our SAA starts on time, acknowledges country, and talks through house rules.

Toastmaster
The TM is our chairperson who'll keep our meeting on track tonight.
7.04pm
Timer
The timer will tell us how they will keep us on track throughout the meeting.

Inspirational
The evening's mood is set with a short inspirational speech.

Speech 1
One of our members will give a prepared speech.

Speech 2
One of our members will give a prepared speech.

One of our members will give a prepared speech.

Table Topics
A question is asked and someone is chosen at random to respond.

Speech 1 - Evaluation
We learn from reflection. The evaluator will reflect on the speech.

Speech 2 - Evaluation
We evaluate with a commendation, recommendation and commendation.

Speech 3 - Evaluation
Our evaluations are always warm and supportive with a focus on the positive.

Our timer has been keeping track all night long! It's time to learn how each person went. Did they meet the minimum time for the role, or were they way over?

In this section every other role receives some feedback.

Our President will close the meeting with a reflection on tonight any some TM news.
